Today, 12 October is my birthday. My counter shows 45 ...
calls, sms, emails and messages on facebook succeed to my delight when suddenly ... Julien comes a mail titled "Claim GSE! (GSE = Group Study Exchange).

My heart misses a beat. What's going on? Julian seemed to angels throughout the stay. He would have hidden something? Following me ever so carefully, would I have missed an issue?

I not have to make any remarks so far, but since Sunday (note: the return day) I am uncomfortable with the GSE.

In fact, following this long transfer to the new club, I have not had a chance to rest as I wanted. Arrived Sunday night with my new hosts, they offered me a bed with a mattress that does not exceed 15cm in thickness and without the famous (and comfy) on mattress, there were more than 2-pillows cushions on the bed. The night was therefore not very comfortable.
Woke early, there was nobody In the apartment, almost empty fridge, no breakfast, prepared for, not even enough to make an omelet ...

After the breakfast in the water, I went down to wait for the coordinator at the foot of the building, I have hanging around over the final 15 minutes and nobody came to pick me up ... and impossible to call, the AT & T is not available in this remote corner of the district. I'm back in the apartment where I found a set of car keys ... phew, I found the car in question ... relatively small but comfortable ... contact ... new problem and there is a manual gearbox ... after some cracking gear and clutch I finally managed to hit the road. Hello traffic, the roads are super narrow, no let me pass, they honk all the galley!
I come I do not know how the point of appointment, I rang at the entrance to the Business, I am told to enter, I am expected and that the other members of the team will not be there! ouch! it shows me a piece of the company with an office, a PC and a stack of files and it makes me work: hallucinating! it lasted three hours, imagine you ... ?? I was told that I can finally go eat but I find myself still alone, left to myself. I found a restaurant nearby, order a burger with Charolais liberty fries (+ 1 glass of wine ).... hop is eaten in 10 minutes I'm going there and the server catches me by the collar of panties and asks me to pay! WHAT? I dream! whatever next! I told him 30 times I'm there for an exchange, it is the local Rotary club that manages blah blah blah and he will not listen! forced to leave the wallet and pay the bill! great organization! (I kept the invoice and I will give the club president).

Exiting the restaurant, always someone to walk me ... So I go back in the box that I am ready for a phone, and there rebelotte! I find myself behind the desk even more records and they make me work! this is normal?? A few hours later, I go out, always someone I take the car so, obviously more fuel, I will make full and I still get out my wallet ... it starts to do well ... back to the apartment, person, fridge always empty so I'm going to re qq races and there blah blah blah, they do not want me to leave without pay ...
I make a soup so quickly and I go to bed hoping be better the next day.

And then waking morning 7am, I wake up like a flower but like, nothing ready for breakfast, transportation, visits ... What is this new club? I hope it will not last!

You can therefore understand that I am very disappointed by these last 2 days, as Team Leader Follower Sleeper Burger I let you convey my displeasure with Jack and concerned for solving this problem.

We're at the airport with Debi and Jack. Marie and Nicolas will take possession of their rental car while Julian and I are going to register our luggage.

Where was I?
Ah yes, the night hectic on my waterbed! It was rather comfortable but ultimately it sways! And to get out of bed, have a special technique that involves creating a big wave, to climb to the top and jump at the right time ... Dangerous but I managed ;-)

The next day we go at noon club Glenwood Hotsprings. The staff is very friendly and we do our presentation for the last time. Again, Action Man performs a technical feat in resurrecting in extremis our video projector that is on the verge of giving up the ghost.
The flag of the club is superb: it is leather and represents the shape of waders that cowboys donned over their jeans. My collection started to gain pace.

After lunch we will head to Colorado Springs through mountain passes and more and more snow. Temperatures plummet and we suffer two snowstorms before arriving in a village at the entrance to the highly publicized "South Park". We will stop for a cup of hot chocolate, buy some T-shirts and key rings bearing the likeness of the famous cartoons and change vehicles.

We finally arrived in Colorado Springs after nearly 4 hours of travel and we Leslie go in May, who had hosted Nicolas at the beginning of our stay. Our friends in the first hour we are waiting and we fall into the arms of one another. Leslie has printed some photos on our blog and has posted in her kitchen. In the living room stands a huge birthday cake for Nicolas with inscriptions in French please! It just means the middle of all this excitement. The evening ended

, we are transported to our hotel for the last night before our departure. Debi to pick us up tomorrow morning at 11am and will accompany us to the airport ... We are torn between the desire to return (or from west to Nicolas and Marie) and the sadness of leaving our faithful friends. We'll meet again here or elsewhere and in any case on Face Book

We assumed a special outfit for the occasion. This is a T-shirt bearing the image of the "Aspen State Teachers College, imaginary university founded in 1975 by a band of revelers eager to attract new girls in town! 7:00. .. We arrive at the Viceroy Hotel superb open for 6 months in which to locate members of the Rotary Club of Snowmass. Marie, Julien and Nicolas are already in place when I arrive. They are perfect to the end and I appreciate their consistency. When they see me, they come and greet me tease me about my looks ... nothing! Mary makes me a little shoulder massage while the boys checked the technical details.

All goes well as usual in the joy and happiness and the pleasure we take for 35 minutes. Concert of cheers, the last questions, hugs and kisses ... And we go to visit the station.

Snowmass is one of four ski areas in the region as well as Aspen Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands and Aspen Montain. With its 237 miles of trails, is the 2nd Snowmass ski resort of Vail after USA (also located in Colorado). Infrastructure is very recent and the charming village. We're here at 2500 meters and 3813 meters at the top of the slopes.
Another figure: the lifts can load 33,058 skiers per hour ... Difficult to imagine a crowd of skiers while we walk in this resort totally deserted.

The site is tempting for those who practice winter sports, having said that, I can not help but think of our stations in France have nothing to envy it. I personally do not cross the Atlantic for there to ski. You pass me a touch of chauvinism but three days of "come back home", that seems to be a normal reaction.

Within the station we find a non-profit association "Challenge Aspen Adaptive Equipment" which provides people with disabilities an impressive batch of materials suitable covering over 140 different disabilities. A team of volunteers assists all those interested on the slopes. The motto is simple: "Disability" becomes "ability" when we remove the first 3 letters. Everything is possible!

We went on a lunch in a kind of diner absolutely typical to savor the local specialty: the meatloaf. Very good, admittedly. The walls are hung with photos and posters. the ceilings are covered with aluminum and decorated, so to speak, of fairy lights in poor taste. Everything is an absolute kitsch and yet we spend a loads of fun while I try to explain in English French ways at the Court of Louis XIV ... Completely offset! Our American friends are laughing uproariously! Julien, I forbid you to circulate the film you made fresh while I try my hand at the profession of historian!

the afternoon, the young leave climb the north face of ... good, finally, they will do a short hike quiet while I get my rest to be operational again for dinner which was held at the "Rustic" French-style restaurant run by Rob Ittner, our coordinator Rotarian in Aspen.

We conclude with a reggae night in a crowded box (as I do not like them ...). Mary Julien Nicolas and seem to enjoy it and reassured that I sneak away on tiptoe for tomorrow morning ... to be up at 5:00 to 7:00 at the Aspen Club.

The stay comes to an end and guests of Aspen have understood that we need to catch our breath as we did they put together a program "light".

After a quick visit to Montrose, we start to experience the event of Stay: The Conference of District 5470.

This great gathering place in Mt Princeton Hot Springs which is in the middle of the area covered by District 5470. We arrived in a large hotel complex situated in the heart of this wild and majestic that we can not get tired.

is an opportunity to meet our friends met at Rotary Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Durango and Grand Junction. This is also the place where we meet club members that we could not visit. As usual, we bring the touch of the exotic that attracts both hotel guests.

The Conference takes place over almost three days while in France we spend a day.


What happens during a District Conference?

Boys are accommodated in a private cottage situated in Rotary 1 km from the Conference Centre. As for Mary and me, we, through the intervention of our "protector" Jack Thomas, the head of the Foreign GSE teams, housed in a beautiful cottage in front of swimming pools and natural hot springs.

This morning (Saturday) we did our big show at the French captured an audience, I would write it. After the presentation, each other and lined up in front of us to be able to talk to us. I feel like a bride at the time of the usual congratulations.
